Nature's beauty exists without human permission or design. Protecting the earth's splendor is everyone's responsibility, and I use my art as a vehicle to convey this message.

In this life-size abstract installation completed at Huntington Fine Arts, I emulated nature's beauty through sculpture and painting while sparking a conversation between the two components. Representing earth's essential resources, all the materials I used were organic. To manipulate the reed, I soaked batches of it in large water-filled plastic containers. This process allowed me to bend and twist the reed strips into a form representing my chaotic and frustrating thoughts concerning climate change. As the strips of reed overlap, they form natural shapes commonly seen in nature, such as leaves and water droplets. This installation reinforces my connection with nature and my journey of activism through art.

Bold as lines, 2022

Index cards, charcoal, sumi ink, oil pastel

Growing up, my father and I bonded over his idol, Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix's voice was always in the background, with our favorite song being "Bold as Love."

RISD's Drawing Foundations one hundred line assignment challenged me to add one line to the following drawing until I reached one hundred drawings. I decided to incorporate Hendrix's music into my creation.

The first thirty cards are my abstract interpretation of the song. Each of those thirty cards is time-stamped with the corresponding part of the song. The refrain repeats, so I implemented organic heart shapes on those cards. When the drums become chaotic, I cut out jagged shapes. The arrangement of the cards is in a precise order. The fourth row represents the song gradually fading into silence; hence there is a space left after the last card. The other seventy cards reflect on my father and me jamming and the memories we made as Hendrix serenaded us.The final three cards fade into nothing, symbolizing my reflection ending.
