MAGAZINE COVERS
MARCH, 2022

This magazine cover was a submission for my Digital Photography class at RISD. Drawing inspiration from the iconic TIME magazine, I used a photograph I had taken in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.
The magazine's title poses as a triple entendre. The photo is of a U.S. Marine marching in the parade on the cover of MARCH magazine. Additionally, this cover celebrates the first post COVID-19 parade, a reminder that time marches on.
This exercise in graphic design forced me to think about text positioning, color palette, and subliminal messaging. I had to figure out what was most appealing from a consumer standpoint. Artistic decisions like color choice and positioning the hat in front of the title contributed to a more sophisticated magazine effect.

For my final advertising project for Digital Photography at RISD, I had to create a realistic advertisement. Our group of four decided to design a fashion catalog showcasing different items for sale. The set was built from the ground up. As the art director, I shopped at various thrift shops for props and designed the group's layout. In addition, I chose and set up the studio lighting and posed the models selected from the streets of Providence. Directing and managing other team members challenged me to collaborate well with others while achieving my artistic objectives. As the photographer and editor, I chose the final photo, the text font, and the placement. The color I selected for the title was taken from a single pixel of the girl's dress.
